Stressed training and target indexing

The methodology that Warrior Women Self Offense uses to train the students is as simple as the techniques that it employs. Targets are taught to the student as well as correct weapons and ways to deliver the weapon to the target. Then, during stressed training or dynamic delivery of these techniques these correct targets, weapons, and delivery systems are burned into the muscle memory of the student, effectively modifying reactions of the student.

What may have been the flight instinct when reacting to an assailant grabbing for the victims shoulders displayed by the victim pulling the arms in and crouching, can be changed into the fight response of thrusting the fingers into the assailants eyes.

Instructors at WWSO employ specially designed suits that allow students to engage in realistic full force combat with assailants. The difference in these suits and others that you may have seen, is that they fully protect the wearer yet are still compact enough that the wearer still resembles an actual human being.

The suit also has, on the exterior, marked target areas that correspond with the correct target areas taught to the students. The student receives real full force practice in delivering the techniques on a living, breathing, swearing and sweating assailant.

And yes, the instructors will use foul language and call you names. They will grab and group at you like a criminal would. Though this sounds over the top it isn't. It is necessary so that the student can be inoculated against the mind freezing stress that come with real life violent assaults.

I thought this was a self defense class?

It is, but as you will find out through the curriculum in our classes, women have been cheated through the years by society into thinking that they must be passive, agreeable and if they must act to preserve themselves it must be done in a defensive manner. Nothing is farther from the truth. In the wild and in many ancient societies women have been the leaders, the hunters and in some cases the protectors.

Why would we insist that our women, who many of us believe should be rearing our children, also insist that they be passive and docile, unable to protect our children. What of the woman that is out in the work place. That's good too. But why do we as a society defend a woman's right to be out in the world working and at the same time as a culture demand that they be soft and quiet, quick to please, and agreeable?

The term "Self Offense" is what the instructors at Warrior Women believe should be used when describing how a woman should preserve their safety. Women shouldn't have to wait to take action. They should learn to trust their instincts and when their body and mind tells them someone is dangerous, they should be trained to act offensively to end any danger that they feel they are in.

After all, the best defense is a good offense.
